No, these tools are not magnetized. 
They remind me of tool seen in a Dentist office.
They seem to be excellent quality, although I have only used them to repair my glasses.
They are a recommended Buy.

How hardy are the tips? Especially the pentalobe (iphone 4/4s/5+) and the Phillips heads? I've bought many mini toolkits that wear out quickly as they're in heavy use on a daily basis.

Yes the tool kit will work on all iPhones and with the parts included should work on most other brands as well.

I have only worked in Samsung and Iphones so far.
