I am curious if the AVR spec actually puts out a pure sine wave. Can anyone respond? I am looking for a pure sin wave, but only APC advertises that term. I believe that AVR and 'pure sin wave' are the same yes? no?

Necro, but this could help somebody.
No.  AVR is automatic voltage regulation which corrects slight variations while on wall power without switching to battery.
Pure sine wave refers to the battery output waveform being close to a pure sine wave but that's more expensive, about $50 more today.
This UPS produces a modified square waveform from the battery which is fine for most uses except for electric motors, generally speaking.
The square wave form gives more of a chance that voltage will be read as zero during the rise and fall of the cycle and that may be enough to throw off some modern switching power supplies.

2 questions: 1- Is the battery replaceable?   2- Is it RS-232 communications cable at both ends or is it a converter to USB thing?
