What is the best way to remove the tank from the base when needed to re-fill... seems difficult to separate - takes numerous attempts - wondering if I'm not doing it correctly...???

You are absolutely correct !....it is hard to remove the tank from the base. I noticed that when I tried to clean it the first time. I do not think there is a special way to do it, but the way I am doing it is by holding the tank with my right arm around it and try to lift the tank while I am holding the base with my left hand. I found this way was the best to handle it myself.....Besides this inconvenience, I found this humidifier the best I ever owned, and believe me I had my share of humidifiers !
