Does this come with a power cord? It seems there is a "powered" option, but that option may only mean the input into which a power cord can be inserted. I see no power cord in any photo.

There are three different versions. The "powered" version appears to have the power input only, I see no transformer included. I do not own this, be nice if the transformer was included.

can you plug in a mouse, keyboard and camera at the same time? Will they all work properly?

I have a mouse and keyboard and normally use USB drives all at the same time. A camera should also work IMHO.

I don't think my current build has any USB 3.0 ports; would a port labeled SS make any use of this product?

SS refers to SuperSpeed, a new transfer rate that can transfer data at up to 5 Gbit/s (625 MB/s), which is ten times faster than USB 2.0. Impressive. And to answer your question, yes. Anytime you use a specific hub, in this case 3.0 and you use a ss usb port it will just dumb it down to that level. It may not be as fast but certainly faster than USB 2.0. Hope my answer is satisfactory for your needs.

Could you use an adapter to plug this directly into the wall if you only wanted to use it for charging?

It has no provision for being powered except through the USB.
