Question 1

Has anyone noticed right out of the box how much of a SWR increase there was? Am running a Wilson 5000 Mag mount and am at a flat 1.0 on most channels.

Does this unit increase the SWR? some i have read make it go to over 3.

I always adjust my antennas with power applied and SWR is never over 1.5 on my Mobile Antenna,I-MAX 2000,Antron A-99 or my Serio 4 Element Beam Antenna. Once you set your antennas with power - when you are not using power the SWR will be even lower.

Is this a 200 watt linear, and does it run off a 12 volt battery?

YES - It is but that is the SSB Mode if you look at the specification it says 100 Watts on AM and 200 Watts on SSB WHICH IS THE WAY ALL Linear Amplifiers work. They work best at 2-3 watts and usually the Modulation Peaks around 110 -120 Watts of Output. Your other Question about 12 Volts yes it works ff a 12 Volt battery - but your output increases with your Voltage best between 13.8 and 15 Volts.
