Placing Mattress in Vacuum Bag
Insert the mattress into the vacuum bag. Remove all bedding from the mattress and clear your workspace of any items that could damage the vacuum bag. Ensure the valve is on the upward-facing side of the bag. Note that the sealed edge is the longer side, so place the mattress accordingly.
Sealing the Bag
Pull the zipper tight and straight when sealing. Slide the zip clip from end to end 3-4 times to ensure a full seal. Press down firmly to lock the seal and prevent air leaks. For best results, have two people seal the bag, each holding an end of the zipper straight and tight. Slide the zip clip back and forth 3-4 times.
Attaching Hose to Valve
Open the plastic cap on the valve and place the vacuum hose's open end in the center of the valve. Ensure the circular end of the hose completely covers the valve. The valve should be on top of the mattress while vacuuming. For thicker mattresses, the valve can be positioned on the side.
Vacuuming the Mattress
Use a household vacuum cleaner to compress the mattress. Typically, vacuuming takes 12-15 minutes. If it takes longer than 15 minutes, stop the vacuum cleaner to prevent overheating. If you hear a hissing sound, check for leaks. Pressing the mattress can speed up the compression process.
Closing the Valve
Once the mattress stops shrinking, the vacuuming is complete. Turn off the vacuum, remove the hose from the valve, and securely screw the plastic cap onto the valve to close the bag.
Rolling the Mattress
Roll the compressed mattress and secure it with the five straps evenly. For long-term storage, long-distance moves, or mailing, wrap packing tape around the entire roll for added security.
