Because the arc in the middle of the measuring tape is already 2 inches. To provide accurate measurements, the tape starts at 2 inches.
Will the locking head detach from the slot during measurement?
The locking system keeps measurements stable. However, to prevent the locking head from detaching, keep the button-side facing up and keep the tape as parallel to the ground as possible while measuring.
Does the tape retract fully when the button is pressed?
Yes, it retracts completely with a single press.
Do I need to keep the tape wrapped around me to read the measurement?
No! After measuring, unpin it from the slot, take it off, and check the reading easily. The automatic lock holds the length, so no need to keep it wrapped or pinch it.
Will the one-button retraction be too fast and hurt fingers?
The tape is soft, so the one-button retraction won't cut fingers.
