Pros: Almost half as heavy as the old splitting maul but more effective. Nice long handle to keep that sharp enough out of the box blade away from you. Plenty of one hit splits.
Cons: Doesn't swing itself but then how would I get a workout.
Overall Review: Most rounds split in one or two strikes. The twisty pieces make you work for it but nothing more than would be required with the 8 lb splitting maul. Why wield almost twice the weight to do the same job? You want to make sure you have proper form with this axe. I had one swing blast through the round, miss the chopping block and land in the ground, a couple inches from my feet. I have split a cord so far and the blade hasn't dulled one bit. Could almost shave with it.
