Dual entrances, Dual Capture Capacity
The OWLTRA EMZ Plus features dual entrances, allowing rodents to enter from either side of the trap. Even if one side is already occupied by a captured rodent, the trap remains ready to capture another on the opposite side. After a rodent is zapped on either end, the trap enters a 35-second wait period, after which the other side automatically shifts into standby mode, ready to zap another rodent. Convenient Bait Area
To lure rodents into the trap, place a pea-sized amount of bait in the designated bait area. Remove the top chamber, then use a toothpick or cotton swab to apply the bait. Important: Ensure the bait does not come into contact with the metal plate surfaces or sensor detectors, as this may cause a malfunction. We recommend using protein-rich baits, such as peanut butter, for best results.
Load the Bait
Before adding the bait, ensure the switch is turned to the OFF (“0”) position. Then, remove the top chamber. Place only a pea-sized amount of peanut butter (or other rodent-attracting foods) in the designated bait area. Important: Avoid letting the bait touch the metal plate surfaces or sensor detectors, as this may cause a malfunction.
Tip: High-protein baits, such as peanut butter, chocolate, hazelnut spread, or meats like bacon, work particularly well!
Insert Batteries and Power on the Device
Reattach the top chamber and insert 4 AA batteries. Then, turn the switch to the ON (“I”) position. The green light will flash to confirm that the trap is activated and ready to use.
Place the Trap
Place the trap on a clean, dry surface along a wall, ensuring that the entrances face away from the wall. Once a rodent is caught, the green light will flash at 10-second intervals. A flashing red light indicates low battery life.
Rodent Disposal: Turn the switch to OFF (“0”) and remove the batteries. Then, detach the top chamber and safely dispose of the rodent. Be sure to follow the cleaning instructions provided in the manual for proper maintenance.
Cleaning the Trap
- Turn off and remove batteries: Set the switch to OFF (“O”) and remove the batteries. Then, detach the top chamber.
- Clean: Use warm water or a hydrogen peroxide solution along with a soft-bristle brush to clean the chamber. Avoid getting water on the electronic top.
- Dry: Allow the interior and exterior of the chamber to air dry completely. Ensure your hands are thoroughly dry as well. If the bottom housing is not fully dry, the trap may flash both green and red lights, preventing proper operation.
- Reassemble: Reattach the top chamber securely.
- Reset the trap: Follow the previous steps to reset the trap and prepare it for use.
