Can you run 1080p 144hz? My monitor's dp port doesnt work.

Enter an answer to this question.Adapter will not work for 144hz. HDMI cannot handle native 144hz and the adapter does not “add” processing power. This will work for 60hz.

Has anyone been able to successfully receive 120hz refresh rate via HDMI 2.0 car to DisplayPort monitor using this converter?

Sorry, I can't answer this question.  I bought a string of StarTech converters to convert output  from the VGA port of a 2001 Digital Audio G4 Macintosh into video on a 2010 Apple 27" LED Cinema Display.  The best I could accomplish was that a 1280 x 720 resolution from my Digital Audio G4 tower, with signals passed along the string of StarTech converters, showed up perfectly on my Apple 27" LED Cinema Display.  This was for one night with the G4 booted under OS X 10.3; the next morning, when I booted the G4 under Mac OS 9.1 from another drive (which I needed to do to accomplish useful work), the setup stopped working even when I rebooted the G4 under OS X 10.3.

I decided the attempt was hopeless due to limitations of the VGA driver for the G4's 15-year-old ATI Radeon video card, and returned the whole string of converters to NewEgg.

FWIW, I had discovered during the experimentation that this Radeon card also has a DVI port—which it shouldn't have according to Low End Mac—instead of an ADC port.  I then bought a Gefen TV Dual Link DVI to Mini DP Converter (not available through NewEgg, AFAIK), and got it to connect from the G4 to the Apple 27" LED Cinema Display at 1280 x 720.  That's at a 60Hz refresh rate at most, which is a far cry from the 120Hz refresh rate the shopper wants.

will this allow me to get 144hz at 1080p? i have a laptop with hdmi and i want to get full 144hz i have display port 144hz monitor>1

No it will not give you higher than 60 hz.  You will only achieve 144hz or higher via DP-to-DP, mini or full size DP.

will i be able to play my ps4 on my pc monitor with this?  I dont care about 4k

You should be able to. This adapter only converts the HDMI to display port output, do that you can connect a DP monitor.

Will this work for PS4 PRO HDMI 2.0 to displayport 1.2 monitor? Now displayport support 4k 60hz from laptop so am i getting 60hz with PS4 PRO too?

I looked up my Ars Technica Other Hardware thread from over a year ago, and I don't think I can answer your question.

Over a year ago I ordered this converter together with a StarTech VGA-to-HDMI converter, in order to connect an _old_ Macintosh Digital Audio G4 to an Apple 27-inch LED Cinema Display with a max resolution of 2560 X 1440.  I _did_ get the VGA-to-HDMI-to-DisplayPort-to-MiniDP (another adapter)-to-monitor string working briefly, but only with the G4's resolution set to 1280 x 720 resolution.  This was due to limitations in the G4's _old_ video card driver, and also to flakiness in the LED Cinema Display's advertising of its possible resolutions.  The solution with the string of converters-adapters stopped working after I tried booting the G4 under OS 9.1 instead of OS X 10.3 (you don't want to ask), so I RMA'ed both the StarTech adapters and found another solution that used the G4 video card's DVI port (which I had mis-identified as an ADP port—because Low End Mac said that 's what it should be and I was using a mirror to see the back of the G4) instead of its VGA port.

So the StarTech HDMI-to-DVI converter _did_ work for me briefly, but I was using it at a resolution far lower than 4K because of limitations in the G4's old video card and driver.
