Any questions? Our AI beta will help you find out quickly.

This easy-to-use, competitively priced tester is three tools in onea fault locator, a cable and wire manager and a tone generator with SmartTone technology. From just ONE END of any two or more conductor cable you can measure up to 2, 500 feet (762 meters). Easily find the distance to opens or shorts on electrical wire, telephone wire, security wire and coax.

Results appear as a distance reading rather than a waveform, so it's perfect for technicians unfamiliar with Time Domain Reflectometery (TDR). Find and fix cable problems without pulling new wire or blindly cutting into walls. Intermittent faults are easier to find because the unit constantly measures while 'On'.

It's perfect for inventory management of cable stock in trucks and warehouses and it can help you generate more accurate bids for jobs by quickly assessing needs and managing the cable stock with greater accuracy.

Patented SmartTone technology gives you five distinct tones to use for exact wire and pair identification, even in proximity to current-bearing cable. When touching the wires together and momentarily shorting the far end of a cable pair, the SmartTone technology will change the cadence of the tone generated. This tone change you hear through a probe positively verifies the correct wire pair.

Voltage detection in the unit will immediately sound an alarm if you accidentally clip onto an energized pair, up to 250VAC.

The Fluke Networks TS90 Cable Fault Finder TDR with built-in analog tone generator, available with various test lead sets to suit specific applications, locates open and short circuits, measures cable length, isolates individual wire pairs, detects AC voltage on the line, and has an adjustable VOP setting to optimize the accuracy of fault location and cable length measurements. VOP (velocity of propagation) can be adjusted from 20 to 99 to match a cable's specifications and the default setting of 66 is suitable for most applications. This TDR (time-domain reflectometer) finds the distance to open and short circuits in up to 2500 feet of cabling for the TS90 model and in up to 3, 000 feet of cabling for the TS100 models.

It detects AC voltage, beeping to indicate a short circuit or voltage greater than 15VAC. The analog tone generator sends a signal through wires for locating and tracing wires with a probe (sold separately), and has five distinct SmartTone cadences for isolating individual wire pairs. During testing, the tone generator injects a tone into the cable and the SmartTone feature allows that tone to be modified to any of five distinct cadences for isolating individual wire pairs. It is compatible with most 1 kHz tone probes (sold separately) for detecting the generated tone.

To conserve battery power, it turns off automatically after five minutes of inactivity when not connected to a cable and after one hour if connected to a cable. It has a four-digit LED display for viewing readings, is made of high-strength ABS plastic for durability and impact resistance, and has an internal coating to protect internal components against moisture. The included test lead set attaches to the TDR's female BNC (Bayonet Neill-Concelman) connector. Additional specifications include length accuracy which varies according to the cable length being tested and various environmental operating conditions. TDRs are used by network and telecom technicians and installers to troubleshoot, maintain, and optimize performance of VDV (voice, data, and video) cabling.
