Invest in the right tool for all your technicians. The new TS100 PRO Cable Fault Finder with PowerBT Bridge Tap Detect not only provides open/short circuit detectionto 8, 000 feet ( 2.4 kilometers)but is also a telecom technicians first line of defense against bridge taps. Because bridge taps are a significant source of DSL network performance problems, they need to be identified and fixed quickly before causing customer attrition. The TS100 PRO can accurately locate multiple bridge taps in seconds on up to 3, 200 feet (975 meters) of cable with the touch of a button.
Used by telecommunications, triple-play/voice, data, and video professionals, the TS100 PRO also gives users a built-in toner with five different tones and patented SmartTone for exact pair identification and reports AC/DC voltage from just one end of any two conductor wires, telephone wires, security wires or coax cables. This five-in-one tool is so affordable every technician can have one.
The Fluke Networks TS100-PRO-BT-TDR Cable Fault Finder TDR with bridge tap detection, built-in analog tone generator, and a set of test leads locates open and short circuits, measures cable length, finds multiple bridge taps, isolates individual wire pairs, reports any AC/DC voltage on the line, and has an adjustable VOP setting to optimize the accuracy of fault location and cable length measurements. This TDR (time-domain reflectometer) finds the distance to open and short circuits in up to 8, 000 feet of cabling, finds the distance to and length of multiple bridge tapslengths of unterminated cable that inhibit performancein up to 3, 200 feet of cabling, and can see past all bridge taps to the end of the cable.
The test lead set connects to the TDR's female BNC (Bayonet Neill-Concelman) connector and has ABN (angled bed-of-nails) and piercing pin clips for accessing individual wire pairs. VOP (velocity of propagation) can be adjusted from 20 to 99 to match a cable's specifications and the default setting of 66 is suitable for most applications. During testing, the tone generator injects a tone into the cable and the SmartTone feature allows that tone to be modified to any of five distinct cadences for isolating individual wire pairs. It is compatible with most 1kHz tone probes (sold separately) for detecting the generated tone.
The meter detects and measures AC/DC voltage from one end of a cable, beeping to indicate a short circuit or a voltage of greater than 90VAC and 100VDC. To conserve battery power, it turns off automatically after five minutes of inactivity when not connected to a cable and after one hour if connected to a cable. It has a four-digit LED display for viewing readings, is made of high-strength ABS plastic for durability and impact resistance, and has an internal coating to protect internal components against moisture. Additional specifications include length accuracy which varies according to the cable length being tested and various environmental operating conditions.
TDRs are used by network and telecom technicians and installers to troubleshoot, maintain, and optimize performance of VDV (voice, data, and video) cabling.
