
Cooper-Atkins was founded by David G. Cooper, inventor of the first bi-metal oven thermometer, in 1885 as the Cooper Oven Thermometer Company. The company became Cooper-Atkins in 2001 after the acquisition of Atkins Technical, a maker of thermocouple instruments. Today, Cooper-Atkins manufactures numerous time, temperature and humidity instruments as well as wireless temperature monitoring equipment.
