The V-shaped opening grips small bottle caps right through to large jar lids, so a single tool handles pickles, jam, sauce jars, soda bottles and tamper-proof seals. Heavy duty steel teeth bite into the lid and hold it still while you turn the jar with both hands. That is the difference between this and a rubber grip pad, which slips as soon as the lid is stiff.
