The Dyson Ball Complete UP13 is a bagless upright vacuum with 270 AW suction, designed for people who want to clean carpets and hard floors with one machine. Its motorized brush bar helps remove ground-in dirt from carpets, while the sealed suction system supports cleaning across both floor types.
Recommended For
- Households with substantial carpet and regular deep-cleaning needs: an independent test of the Dyson Ball Animal Complete found strong pickup on carpet, and an UP13 owner reported years of use across carpet and hard floors.
- People who prefer a plug-in vacuum for longer whole-home sessions rather than stopping to recharge: the corded design keeps running while plugged in, though users need to manage the cord.
- Users who want one upright for carpet and hard floors and are willing to switch off the brush bar for delicate rugs or flooring; the UP13 manual documents brush-bar control for those surfaces.
- People who need occasional above-floor cleaning as well as floor cleaning: the UP13 wand and hose accept tools for reaching furniture and other spots away from the floor.
Real-World Use Scenarios
- For routine cleaning in a home with both carpet and hard floors, the UP13 can handle both with its main floor head, reducing the need to switch to a separate vacuum. Expect to make multiple passes where dirt is embedded in carpet.
- When refreshing carpet that has accumulated everyday dust and dirt, the motorized brush bar is intended to work through the pile and lift debris. On thicker or plush carpet, some UP13 owners report that the head can be harder to push, so it may be less comfortable for extended cleaning.
- For stairs and other above-floor spots, users can release the hose and wand to reach beyond the floor head. This is useful for occasional detail cleaning, but owner reports indicate that handling the upright and its hose on stairs can feel awkward.
- For longer, whole-home cleaning sessions, the corded design lets users keep vacuuming without waiting for a battery to recharge, though they may need to change outlets between rooms. Emptying the bagless bin is part of regular cleanup; one UP13 owner reported that doing so could release dust.
