Why is the available storage capacity displayed on the computer always lower than the actual capacity?
It is due to a unit capacity conversion issue. Manufacturers of Flash (memory) drive devices generally calculate in 1000 as the binary, i.e. 1KB=1000Bytes, 1GB=1000M, and operating systems calculate capacity in 1024 as the binary, i.e. 1KB=1024Bytes, 1GB=1024M, and the reported capacity after formatting will be less than the nominal capacity. System files also take up a small amount of space under different operating systems.
