The LC-2 cable features a unique design, optimized specifically for unbalanced ("RCA") analog audio, with a coaxial geometry offering lower capacitance and superior shielding compared to standard coax. It incorporates heavy shielding with two high-coverage bare copper braids layered directly over each other, ensuring optimal audio frequency performance. This design combats two primary causes of subwoofer hum: the shielding effectively excludes induced noise, while low shield resistance minimizes ground potential differences, reducing ground loop hum likelihood. A large spacing between shield and center conductor, combined with a highly foamed dielectric, maintains a low capacitance of 12 pF per foot. Despite its thick construction, the cable is remarkably flexible, thanks to a soft PVC jacket and foam dielectric. The RCA plugs feature gold plating on all contact surfaces and utilize a circular leaf spring to grip the RCA jack, ensuring a firm yet non-damaging connection.
