This is normal protective coating evaporation from new components. Simply run the tester unloaded for 2-3 minutes in ventilation. The odor dissipates completely and won't affect the 100-1000 CCA testing precision.
Can it test batteries over 13V?
Designed for nominal 12V systems (up to 13.8V when fully charged). For higher voltages, our overload protection will activate to safeguard the analog dial while still delivering accurate 12V-range readings.
