Will this charge a completely dead battery?
Yes, the SC1281 will charge a completely dead battery, unless the battery is bad. If you are using the engine start feature, we recommend first using the boost mode to quickly add energy to the battery.
Does this unit have internal batteries or is it powered by AC?
The SC1281 does not have an internal battery. It must be plugged into any AC outlet before charging will start.
Will the SC1281 desulfate a battery?
Yes, the SC1281 has an automatic desulfation mode. If the battery requires desulfation, the unit will automatically switch to desulfation during charging. Desulfation can take up to 10 hours.
What happens if power is interrupted during charging?
If power is interrupted during charging, the charger will default to AGM battery and 30A boost charge rate when power is restored. This may result in overcharging or undercharging of your battery.
What happens if I forget to select a battery type and charge rate?
If your battery is connected, but you fail to select a battery type and charge rate, the charger will default to AGM battery type and 30A boost charge rate. This may result in overcharging or undercharging of your battery.
