As I've never had a bluetooth unit in my car, I'm not sure about something. When I receive or make a call, will the other party hear me through a mic on the unit? Is that how it works? And if so, how hard is it to understand?

The unit comes with a wired mic with long chord that connects to the back of the unit and that you can channel through your front paneling. I have my set up so that it runs all the way up to my visor. The mic itself has a convenient clip to attached to the edge of the visor. Once you pair your phone via bluetooth with the unit, all you have to do to receive a call is to press the phone icon button on the unit and voila! I've asked around and people told me they hear me loud and clear. As per you hearing the other person, just make sure your volume is set at a comfortable level b/c you will hear them nicely through the whole speaker system in your car.

Is it possible to hook sirius/xm up to this unit?

on the faceplate, works fine.
