Question 1

I Purchased a Mediasonic  USB 3.0 2 port PCI card from Newegg. When installed it I get a message saying there is not enough power for this card. This is without anything plugged into the card. Will I have a similar problem with your card? My computer is an HP Pavillion P7-1026b.

did you connect the power cable that this card requires...either a sata power cable or pata power cable , this card can use either one. that is the first thing. second do you know how many watts your computer power supply can handle. if the power supply is rated at around 400 watts or more your probably ok. but then i don't know how many hard drives you have or other devices that require extra power you have connected. sorry to answear a question with a question or 2 but more info is needed about your system...stan

Does this unit come with any power adapters needed ?

No. It uses the standard 4-pin power plug found in most PC's. I think this is mostly used for powering USB harddrives thru the card.

The card is intended to upgrade an MSI G41M-P25 with 1 PCIe x1 slot and 1 PCIe x16 slot.

Question:  Will putting it in the x16 slot be faster?

The Linux OSs I'm using are Debian and Knoppix and it looks like Transcend doesn't offer support for Linux -- however, depending on the chipset either OS may have a module (driver or firmware) which might work.

Question:  What's the mfg name and number of the chipset?

Question:  Has anyone gotten the TS-PDU3 to work with a Linux distro?  Which one?

Hello Roger,
   I have mine in a PCIe slot on a Gigabyte Motherboard with Windows XP. It works fine - no complaints.

USB 3.0 has a specific data rate. Don't think using it in a PCIe x 16 would speed it up any. It's still a lot faster than USB 2.0.

Have never used Linux.

Is this product is compatible with supermicro C2G41 motherboard?  I believe it is, but want to be sure before ordering.

All you need to do is check your PC motherboard
if it had any PCIe 1x 4x 8x or 16x.  Preferably 1x is enough
also remember your power-supply had Sata Power of 4 pin power 
connection to this board.  Reason this card need extra power 
because if your external Hard Drive does not have power then
you need this power supply.  If your external Hard drive had
it own power then you don't need this power connection.

Currently best if you can connect this extra 5v to this circuit board.
this card is the best for USB 3.0 data transfer.  I't is fast compare 
with 2.0

Steve looking at the specs on your board  i see no reason it shouldn't work. The short slot is the one to use. Hopefully you haven't already put something in that slot. If so the pcie 16x should also work. Look on the box and it will direct you to the website to get the correct driver for it. Hope this helps..Stan

I have a Gateway SX2803 computer and I'm looking for a USB 3.0 card that will work with it (and that will fit -- it's a small form factor case).  Will this card work?  Does my computer have the available power connections I would need?

By the way, the computer includes a standard wireless adapter card that is in one of the two PCIe slots (the smaller slot).  I don't use this wireless card and I can remove it if necessary.

hard to say whether or not your box has the power cord - this card needs either a SATA power or PCI 6pin. Even if you dont have either one extra, most motherboards, even OEM ones, have extra spots for more SATA power cords, sometimes 6pin. Youll have to open it up and look. As far as it fitting physically, it probably won't right out of the box. I installed one on a smallish case, and the card I got shipped with the metal plate bent over, so it would fit into a smaller shipping box. I had to unscrew the plate from the board, and modify it myself to fit. It wasnt difficult, or time-consuming, but it completely voids the warranty. If you don't mind working with pliers, it wouldn't be hard to make it fit even a small case.

I intend to use one of the two USB 3.0 port with a Trendnet TEW805 wireless USB adapter working at 867Mbps. My question is about the capability of this adapter to handle this kind of application?
(Desktop w/ MSI P43 motherboard, OS Win XP-SP3)

I have tested 3 other similar adapters but they are not working fast enough, so the internet connection freezes after aprox. 10 minutes. Mny thanks in advance.

Your Internet connection shouldn't freeze even at 1/10th that speed.  That said, you absolutely need to use the extra power connector on the PCIe card to provide the additional juice that it requires.

I used my PCIe card w/ a USB 3.0 microSD adapter and benchmarked it at ~750Mbps.  I was able to get the microSD adapter to run a little faster on my other PC's onboard USB 3.0 connection, so maybe this PCIe adapter is the bottleneck (but still very fast).  Both systems are running Win 7 64-bit.
