Does this also work or replace a unit that is "SCSI"? Does both play and record cd's?

This unit is NOT a SCSI replacement. If you're running SCSI you'll need to know if you require a 50 pin unit or an 18 pin unit. This depends upon the SCSI controller board that you have installed.
