100/100 Mbps downstream / upstream, high-performance Ethernet via VDSL solution
PLANET VC-234 is a high performance Ethernet over VDSL2 bridge. It is based on two core network technologies, Ethernet and VDSL2 (Digital Subscriber Line 2 with very high data rate). VDSL2 technology provides the absolute fastest data transfer speed over existing copper telephone lines without the need for rewiring. The VC-234 supports the widespread telephone line network with up to 100/100Mbps balanced data rate within 300m and 20/4Mbps for 1.4km long connections.


Implement with existing copper wires
The VC-234 is also a Long Reach Ethernet (LRE) bridge that offers four RJ-45 Ethernet ports and two RJ-11 jacks, one for VDSL connections and the other for Plain Old Telephone Service (POTS) connections. The VC-234 has an integrated POTS splitter to share the existing telephone line with POTS; therefore it is not necessary to replace the existing copper wiring. Simply connect the VC-234 to the existing RJ-11 telephone socket and a powerful VDSL2 network can be connected. The VC-234 is ideal as an Ethernet extender for an existing Ethernet network.

Providing high-demand service connectivity for ISP/Triple-Play devices
The VC-234 provides excellent bandwidth to meet the triple-play devices for home entertainment and communication. With the capability of symmetrical data transmission of 100/100Mbps, the VC-234 allows you to work with many multimedia services on the local Internet, such as VOD (Video on Demand), Voice over IP, Video Phone, IPTV, Internet Caching Server, Remote Learning and so on.

Easy and flexible installation.
The Ethernet over VDSL2 bridge is plug-and-play capable and fully compatible with all types of network protocols. In addition, the operating status of each port and the entire system can be monitored via the extensive diagnostic LEDs on the front panel. The VC-234 offers two modes, CPE and CO, for application: CPE mode is used on the client side and CO mode is on the central side. The CPE or CO mode can be set with a built-in DIP switch. For a point-to-point connection, a CPE mode VC-234 and CO mode VC-234 must be set up as a pair of converters to perform the connection.

Providing superior upstream and downstream transmission performance
The VC-234 also defines a balanced bandplan for transmitting upstream and downstream signals; the bandplan performs higher transmission quality at short distance for the central side (CO) in symmetric mode. All in all, when the VC-234 is in profile 17a operating mode, it provides the pervasive telephone line network with ultra-high performance remote transmission, and when the VC-234 is in operating mode 30a, it gives short-range transmissions with upstream and downstream transmission give wire speed performance.
