The ETAP-2003 can be powered directly from a computer's USB port and incorporates a built-in inrush current limiting circuit to protect the host computer from excessive startup current. This design minimizes the risk of USB port interruptions or hardware damage caused by sudden current surges. The device is fully compatible with Power over Ethernet (PoE), allowing PoE power to pass transparently between the two in-line network ports without interruption. This capability makes the ETAP-2003 particularly well suited for monitoring traffic on PoE-enabled devices such as IP cameras, wireless access points, VoIP phones, and IoT equipment.
