It rests on the floor surface, with the on-top portion having a height of 0.4 inch. Crafted from solid maple wood with a louvered design. Includes a sliding damper for convenient airflow adjustment. The damper can be detached from the wood vent by bending its two tabs. As a natural wood product, this floor register is unfinished. Minor variations in wood color and grain may be present. The surface is unpainted and can be painted to coordinate with your floor color. Installation in high-traffic areas is not advised
