Product description

This external DVD drive complements laptops, notebooks, and desktop PCs without a built-in optical drive. It reads and writes common CDs and DVDs and is ideal for watching movies, importing music, installing older software, and creating personal backups.

Connection is via USB 3.0 or USB-C. The external CD drive is powered directly by the computer, so a separate power adapter is usually not needed. USB 3.0 supports up to 5 Gbit/s and is backward compatible with USB 2.0 and USB 1.1. Actual speed may be limited by the disc, connection, and software.

Supported media include, depending on the disc and burning software, CD-R, CD-RW, CD-ROM, DVD-R, DVD R, DVD-RW, DVD RW, DVD-ROM, DVD-RAM, and DVD-DL. Maximum read speeds are up to 24x for CDs and 8x for DVDs. The device does not support Blu-ray discs.

Plug and Play allows for quick setup on compatible operating systems. Simply connect the external CD/DVD drive to a USB port on your computer, insert the disc, and open suitable media or burning software. Windows 11 may require a playback app depending on usage. On macOS, the drive may only appear after inserting a readable disc; discs should be ejected using the system function.

Compatible with the appropriate laptops, notebooks, and desktop PCs running Windows 11, 10, 8, 7, XP, macOS, and Linux. Not intended for TVs, cars, smartphones, tablets, game consoles, projectors, Chromebooks, or devices without support for external optical drives.
