Question 1

I am needing a case with 6 external 5 1/4 bays and this case claims in the specs to have 6 . . . . however the pictures show that there are only 4. Are there more than 4 available ?

Accepted Answer

Steven,

Unfortunately no, the front of the case is exactly as pictured. The front grill is removable and is fastened with push-lock/push-unlock fasteners at either side of the top and a tab that locates the bottom. Behind this grill is a foam dust shield and 1-140mm fan. There are 8 internal 3.5" drive cages + two 2.5" that mount behind the motherboard, 4 external 5.25" drive bays. As far as I can tell all other literature looks correct.

Question 2

i know that Newegg do make mistake, so does this case really come with tint window?

Accepted Answer

Yes, the window is tinted -- smoke colored. I just bought this case and I really like it a lot. I wasn't sure about the dark tinted window at first, but with lights inside the case, you can't really tell and it looks very cool. When the lights are off, it is dark inside though. Very nice-looking, well-finished case. I bought the case because I have a loaded machine and everything fits with plenty of room. Very well laid out and easy to work on. Lots of room for fans or other cooling solutions and has filters over the fan openings. Would definitely buy again.

Question 3

what color is the power led and what color is the hard drive activity led?

Accepted Answer

Power is blue and he is red also when the computer is in sleep mode at least for me the power blinks and it is super bright so if you intend on having this near where you sleep be aware of that fact. Other than that it is an awesome case.

Question 4

if i put 2 blue led fans under neath the top, will I be able to see the blue led on top of the computer when it's on?

Accepted Answer

I just finished my build today - I do not have pictures yet.
I used in the front bottom:
Cougar Green 140mm CFD14HBG 14cm - totally awesome through
the front filter.
Front top fan & Top center fan:
Aero Cool Shark 140MM Red - good visible on front - looks good
Almost not visible on the top - going replace - get something else
Top rear: Enermax T3 Apollish 140mm x25 w/focus blades Blue
(UCTA14N-BL) - Totally Awesome - Shows through the top really cool - lights up the inside of the case - GREAT FAN - Sorry I cant find it in RED? I am ordering a second one in blue.

Question 5

How is this listed with 6 external 5.25 drive bays when I only see 4 puch out pannels for them?

Accepted Answer

Richard,
You are correct. The case has 4 external 5.25 bays not 6.

I have had this case for about 3 weeks now. Even though it has plastic components on the front and top, it is VERY solid and the overall construction is top notch!

It is quite roomy and although it is a full-size tower, the conservative Scandinavian design makes it look more trim. I switched to the ARC XL from a full-size C*rM*r case of almost similar proportions but the new unit seems more unobstrusive. My wife agreed with me on this and she rarely takes notice of my computer gear.

I also had a defective thumb screw in the parts box. The support staff was extremely helpful AND efficient and they spoke unaccented English...something rare in today's tech support world.

I highly recommend this case.

Happy zeros and ones!

Question 6

I see it says 3 140mm Fans. Does anyone know how many available fan slots there actually are? ie. 2 front 120mm fan, 2 top 120/140mm exhaust slots, 1 rear 140mm. Curious and it doesn't state this info anywhere.

Accepted Answer

Front: 2 - 120/140
Rear: 1 - 120/140
Top: 3 - 120x140
Bottom: 1 - 120/140

Question 7

Will the 2.5 inch space behind the motherboard tray work for 2.5 inch hybrid drives?

Accepted Answer

I am not sure about the hybrid drives. There is enough room to install a 2.5 SSD and not much more

Question 8

Which parts are plastic and which are metal? Also, can the exterior be painted and how easily?

Accepted Answer

The Unit is top-notch. Beautifully designed and constructed. Front is plastic, rest is metal. Fans very quiet. Mine has been running 24/7 for two years now. I see the price has dropped since I bought mine....a real bargain.

The perforated front and top panels are perforated metal and dust screens come apart for easy cleaning.

I supposed you could paint it, but it looks great as is...an almost black graphite with a satin finish. Depends on what your intention is.
Would recommend using commercial grade paints or lacquers and having someone who does that kind of work look at the surfaces before deciding what to use.

Question 9

Can someone tell me the size of the case? HXWXD?

Thanks,

Bill

Accepted Answer

Hello William:

the size is BIG -- LOL

9.13" (wide) x 22.52" (tall) x 21.73" (front to back) in INCHES

and Heavy, 30.5 lb --- ouch

nice case however -- any size radiator fits, any size motherboard

Question 10

Okay so first off I have a pretty nice enthusiast system, but I also know the case I have is a great case but aesthetically it is not for me compared to fractal design and Lian Li. Now I was planning on gettting the mid tower version of this case or the Define R4 case with the window. Then I realized that this case is actually cheaper than them both when you include the shipping charges. Now I am thinking there a real reason not to go with this case? I needed two things especially that the 922 does not give me, one is aesthetics(the 922 is not my style of case but was so cheap when I bought and for the features it was worth it) and second is cable management(which the 922 has two cut outs I believe one is small and the other is okay but not enough for all the cables especially because I have sli, 3 hard drives, and 2 disc drives) please if anyone thinks this would be a good match for what I have let me knw?

Accepted Answer

I mentioned some of this in my review, but for your specific instance -- First off: it's huge. If the outer dimensions work for you, then I see no reason why you wouldn't be ecstatic with this case. I've had roomy cases before including Corsair Cosmos II but I've never had a case with so much USEABLE room before.

There are two HDD cages, each of which hold 4 HDD and can be oriented multiple ways. Download the manual from Fractal and check out the options.

You didn't mention anything about water cooler so I assume you've got a fan on the CPU so that's no problem.

I think the best thing about this case is the wire routing. If you're using an eATX motherboard, there's grommet cutouts all the way around the board with a full inch available in the back of the case before you hit the back door making bundling your wire very easy -- plenty of room.

It's the best case I ever bought and I'm really happy with it -- I think you will be also!
