WOW! That was a fast answer. THANK YOU!  Last question then, it already has Windows 8.1/Office 2013 and files (so it already is formatted).   I only need the PC tower (Windows 7 Pro) to recognize that a drive is there and accessible so I can use my IMAGING software to do a backup of the drive in your adapter before doing a warranty repair (ONLY power supply is bad, not the mSATA drive) as no manufacture will guarantee you get your data back under warranty repairs.   My PC tower would recognize it as an accessible drive then, right?

can I use this adapter to make the drive a slave drive in a standard PC tower, not the master?   and if i can make it slave drive, is there a jumper i need to use to tell it that or is it plug n play to make it a SLAVE?

Accepted Answer

There is no concept of "master" or "slave" on SATA configuration.  Your OS should detect the drive and allow you to start using it immediately after formatting.
