How was this professional window screen brush born?
As a designer, cleaning window screens was the household chore I dreaded the most. I’ve tried every tool imaginable—shoe brushes, toothbrushes, rags, even hair dryers—but the results were consistently frustrating. Ordinary brushes either failed to clean thoroughly or required exhausting effort. Worse yet, stiff bristles often got caught in the mesh, risking scratches and damage. Plus, having to disassemble and reinstall the screens just to clean both sides was an absolute hassle.
These frustrating experiences made me wonder: Why has such a simple task become a hidden burden for so many households? Is it possible to design a specialized brush that actually solves this problem?
I envisioned a tool that would be the ultimate solution:

- No Disassembly Needed: Cleans both sides of the screen simultaneously.

But the real challenge was: Could we bring all these ideals together into one perfect design?
High Cleaning Efficiency & Zero Risk of Scratching: 100% Achieved
We designed an extra-large rectangular brush head (approximately 7.1 x 3.6 inches)—significantly larger than a standard palm or household brush—to maximize the cleaning area. The bristle hardness was meticulously calibrated; bristles that are too soft lack cleaning power, while those that are too hard risk damaging the mesh. After extensive testing, we determined the optimal material and firmness. For instance, the ideal hardness for a single tuft is precisely set at around 18 degrees.
Cleaning Both Sides Without Removal: Partially Achieved
Our goal was for the bristles to remain resilient and pass through the mesh to effectively clean the back of the screen without deforming. This required finding the perfect balance between bristle length and angle. If the bristles are too long, they suffer irreversible deformation when pulled, losing their effectiveness. If they are too short, they cannot penetrate the grid to clean the exterior dust.
After repeated trials, we finalized the bristle length at 3mm and fixed the angle at 45 degrees. For screens with standard spacing and finer wires, we successfully achieved true double-sided cleaning. However, for screens with thicker lines or coarser mesh, efficient cleaning is best achieved on a single side.

To ensure long-lasting performance, we utilized high-quality ABS engineering plastic, making the brush robust and durable without breaking, deforming, or fading over time. Additionally, the ergonomic detachable dual-handle design ensures easy handling and seamless adaptability across various cleaning scenarios.
