Question 1

is this board haswell ready?

Accepted Answer

That's what Gigabyte told me when I asked them to recommed a board to me. Proof's in the pudding and I'll find out tomorrow when I put my system together finally, but you should be able to rest easy buying this to go with a Haswell. (I'm putting an i7-4770k on the board).

Question 2

Is this boards E-ATX or ATX, the site specs say ATX, but the video says E-ATX?

Accepted Answer

The board is a full size atx but I wouldn't say it's the size of an
E-atx. It fits in my regular size mid tower case with no issues.
Be aware that the sound on this MB sucks; it's noisy and I've
had the same issues with 2 of these mobos. If you get this mobo
I would use a dedicated sound card. I will never buy a sound card
or mobo that advertises that it's "sound blaster recon"; every one
of these things I've ever gotten has either been doa or failed soon
after using it. The mobo is pretty good but can be a little flakey
cause they use a bridge chip on it which switches between the
2 pci-e x16 slots to give you dual x16 which can't be natively done
on socket 1150 because it lacks the number of pci-e lanes in the
processor.

Question 3

new to pc building and wanted to know if the board will hold a i7-4930k or a i7-4820k?

Accepted Answer

That's a good question. The Haswell chips are not listed in the compatibility list for the board. You can find the list at this page: http://www.gigabyte.us/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4487

In many cases, motherboards should support whatever you put into them, so long as they are the right socket and have an up to date bios, but you may be best off erring on the side of caution or asking Gigabyte's support.

Question 4

I have a question about the RAM I should put into this. I was reading it supports DDR3 3000(O.C.)/2933(O.C.)/1600/1333. However when I first read it I thought it supported up to 3000. I ended up purchasing the 1gb kit from corsair which is 2133mhz. Will that ram not work in this motherboard? If you search the ram on here, CMZ16GX3M2A2133C10 you will find the one I purchased. I hope this ram works!

Accepted Answer

1Gb kit? You mean 16gb

I used corsair dominator platinum 2x4gb 2133mhz
And it worked flawlessly. You should have no issues.

Question 5

On the spec sheet it says there's two 1394a (firewire) connections yet on the picture I dont see any? Is this a typo?

Accepted Answer

It is not a typo, the firewire connections are located right under the USB3 ports. If you look at the the picture of the motherboard you will notice them.

Question 6

The video said the board recommended 1.5 volt ram, but it has the extra power adaptor for sata, Would 1.65 volt ram work in it with the extra sata power being used?

Accepted Answer

DON'T USE RAM OVER 1.5 VOLTS! The memory controller is in the cpu and
it's maximum rated voltage [in BIOS it's DRAM BUS VOLTAGE] is 1.5 volts.
In previous CORE processors the max dram voltage was 1.65 volts but has
been lowered in haswell. If you wreck the memory controller your cpu is
toast. The connector you refer to is only to ensure that the video cards have enough juice; it doesn't affect ram operating voltage.

Question 7

Are the barbs on the included chipset cooler removable? If so are they standard 1/4 threads?

Accepted Answer

I don't believe that the barbs are removable but they do appear to be standard thread.

I will say that this board is not overpriced...I paid good money for it and I'm getting great value out of it.

Question 8

what kind of memory(ram) is recommended for this board?

Accepted Answer

I would say 16GB DDR3 is a good medium for this board. I personally went with 32 GB DDR3. Something like this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231590 I would follow those lines and look for an iron egg price garauntee or silver or gold. Also go for a product 4+ eggs with 10+ reviews so you know it is safe.

Question 9

which board is the latest between yhis one and the ASUS Z87-DELUXE dual deluxe?

Accepted Answer

The Gigabyte g1 is not the latest. But it out performs the asus one by far, I have always enjoyed asus very much but first time using the gigabyte I am very happy I chose to get this one. You will not be disappointed at all

Question 10

Does this motherboard have a TPM (Trusted Platform Module)?

Accepted Answer
