Question 1

Do I have to connect both the 6 pin and 8 pin power receiver on the card? There is a 2*6 to a 8 pin adapter sent with the box, and my psu has only a 2+6 pin connecter. So can I just use my a 2+6 pin connecter to charge only the 8 pin receiver on the card? or I use the adapter? But the adapter has 2*6pin, not a 6 and a 8, can I just connect the 6 pin to the 8 pin receiver? I am very confused!!

Accepted Answer

Yes you have to connect both a 6 pin power connector and the 8 pin connector to get enough power to the card. My old antec power supply only had 2x6 pin connectors so I had to buy a new supply. The adapter they include would only work if you had three 6 pin power cables with your supply

There is a link on tom's hardware which shows the power available with each type (6 or 8 pin) connector. (not allowed to include link here)

Question 2

Is a GeForce GTX 980 better than this card? Their specs are so close.

Accepted Answer

It depends on how you look at it. The 780 is a single card. All games and programs can potentially take advantage of it's full potential. A gtx 980 is 2 cards in one. Not all games can take advantage of that feature. The titan is in the same field as the 980, to my understanding.

I personally purchased this card after some research that revealed the previous information, as well as stating that the gtx 780 was (and maybe still is?) the "single most powerful card on the market."

I'm very happy with the performance of mine. I'm now bogged down by my first Gen i7 and pci2 slot, so I'm probably not even getting the most out of mine.

CS:GO at 80-120fps maxed graphics, wow still chugs when streaming, but that's because of old CPU. Everything I previously got ~20-30 fps at best on my gtx 680 now runs 60+ easy. (Alien Isolation, Metro Last Light)

Question 3

Would this card SLI with my pre existing evga card.????

EVGA ACX Cooler 03G-P4-2784-KR G-SYNC Support GeForce GTX 780 Superclocked 3GB 384-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 SLI Support Video Card

Accepted Answer

The SLI capabilities are also driven by your motherboard, so if it is SLI ready and both video cards have SLI support, then yes it would.
