Question 1

Will this work well for Ubuntu Linux 64 bit?

Accepted Answer

This card works well in Fedora 20. I'm not sure about any particular version of Ubuntu, but I'd bet it will work with something recent like 14.04 LTS. OSS driver support for this card is better than most other R2XX series cards because the chip on this card is really more like an HD 7000 series card.

Question 2

Can this card support 4k at 60hz? is th edisplay port 1.2?

Accepted Answer

Specs say Displayport is 1.2. I stopped using the displayport on Windows 7 because it kept resizing the desktop on power-saving which scrunched all my icons in the top right. Plus it occasionally froze the display on return from sleeping.

Spec also say 4K (4096X2160), but I'm running 2560x1440, which is my monitor's max.

Question 3

One of the reviews has a manufacturer response saying that although, at the time, the amd drivers did not support crossfire with kaveri, it would be added in time. Does this mean it will also work with the catalyst drivers in linux? Or will this not support crossfire with kaveri in linux with current drivers?

Accepted Answer

I use this on a Z87 Pro ASUS Motherboard running W7 Professional. I can't answer your question, but it has worked without problems in my system.

Question 4

Can I use this card for 3 monitors?
HDMI--->monitor 1
DVI--->monitor 2
DisplayPort--->active DisplatPort adaptor--->monitor 3
Would this work?

Accepted Answer

Not for 3 monitors at the same time.

Question 5

I am running XP. Will the install CD work? (Just say Window 7 & 8 support). If not, can I just install using the Catalyst utility? I don't care whether AMD recognizes it as an R7 250 or an HD 7500. Thanks in advance. :)

Accepted Answer

If you go to the AMD web site and search for R7 Drivers, you will see 32 and 64-bit Windows XP Support. I always download drivers from the web site since they are more up-to-date than the install CD. BTW, in my system the R7 250 Ultimate Card shows up in device manager as a HD 7700 series adapter. Very happy with the card so far.
