Can I scan with this printer?

Unfortunately, no. That was almost a deal-breaker for me, but there are some pretty good apps to "scan" with your smartphone, which is good enough for my purposes.

can this handel 11 X 17 paper?

No. You are going to have to spend a lot more on a large format printer. If you only need occasional 11x17 prints, look into a large format inkjet. And use this printer for everyday color printing.

Does this have an automatic feed for copying?

This is a printer only, not multi-function. It has no scanning function so you cannot use it for copying. I have an inexpensive black and white multi-function laser that also scans in color (most of them do). To make color copies, I scan it on the black and white laser and print it on the color laser. It works great. I highly recommend this color laser printer.

Does this come with any ink cartridges?

Yes. So far I haven't replaced mine (occasional home use), but your mileage may vary.

If I connect via Ethernet can I also print via wireless? I had issues with the HP printer I had.

Not sure if this printer will allow both wired and wireless connections simultaneously but there is no need to have both. Once you have the printer connected to the network via wired or wireless, any other device that connects to the same network (again, they can also be either wired or wireless) will be able to print to it.

If I connect this via Ethernet can I also print wirelessly? The HP printer I had issues with this.

I don't think so, at least I have never found a way.
