Does this stand have to be screwed into the desk?

No, but it does have a pressure mount that "Attaches" to the edge of the desk. You will want to make sure that the edge of your desk has at least 4 inches of over hang, and at least a thickness of 1 inch for the pressure mount.

Does this product come with Mounting screws?

Yes. All that is needed to mount it to the desk and the monitor that has a vesa backplate is included. There is a nice ytube video simply search the name and its by 'mtandiz'. He shows whats included and what it is capable of. GL 2 U!

Can this be mounted through a grommet hole?

I would not recommend that form of mounting. Best to use pressure screw provided and mount to a flat, sturdy surface

Could this product be mounted on a desk that is 5 inches thick?

I would say no w/included bolt, i measured the mounting bolt used to go thru a hole in the desk as i did and it is only 3.5" long. I suppose u could locate a longer bolt tho, easy enuff. i do really like this mount tho and well worth the $. There is a good ytube video from a guy in NY that shows it in detail which helped me decide. I chose it since u can simply drill a hole in the desk and dont need access to the back like one w/ a hutch attached.
