Range varies based on many factors: environment, device power, and antenna quality. Metal, concrete walls, vehicles, terrain, and weather can reduce range. In typical use, customers see 0.5–3 miles; in ideal conditions, ranges extends several miles.
What size is the headphone/speaker jack?
The 2.5 mm jack on the right side of the radio is accessible by lifting the black flap.
What is VOX?
VOX is a hands-free, voice-activated feature that lets you transmit without pressing the push-to-talk button for hands-free functionality. On VOX-enabled models, this feature works with or without a headset.
Can I take it on a cruise?
Generally, yes, you can use these radios on a cruise. As a rule of thumb, up to 5 watts and no auxiliary antennas are permissible, but you should always confirm with your cruise line for their specific policies.
