Does the power slot on this card give the graphics card power? Or do you still need to plug in a power cable to this AND the graphics card?

Power to the GPU is totally separate if you're running any GPU over 4GB memory, otherwise yes. For example if you running GTX1070/1070 TI @ 8gb memory you need additional power to the GPU, but if you're running GT series @ 4gb the power to the riser card is enough.  I've been buying mine from Mintcell and they're great, deliveries were on time, no issues with the cards, no parts missing and none of them failed. I bought over 50 cards from them.

can you use a longer usb cable or do you have to use the one it comes with?

It's always best to use the original components that come with these risers. Mixing up different cables from different manufacturers can be problematic. If you do decide to mix and match usb cables just make sure they have the same temp and  voltage parameters.

Were do you mount them,  And what else do I need ?

Do you mean the cards or the risers? Generally I see most people with open air frames and server cases mount screw the card in by the built in bracket on the card into a piece of wood or aluminum piece and have the card supported with a piece of wood and just free-floating. Wouldn't recommend this if you plan on transporting the rig in anyway, but sufficient if it's just going to sit there.

Is the backplate protected by foam?
Are the USB cables shielded?

I can tell you that the backplate is protected by foam, but not sure if the cable is shielded or not, hope that helps.

Question 5

can you use a 6 pin connector from your power supply or no?

I would if you are able. Sata cables aren't meant to take high voltages. The adapter does work though.
