Is this cable active or passive?
It's passive. No extra power is needed. It doesn't amplify signals. But for a DP - to - HDMI adapter, it converts DP signals to HDMI while simply allowing them to pass through for transmission or connection.
Can it be used to connect devices with HDMI output ports, such as the Fire TV Stick and Xbox, to DP ports?
No. It is only applicable for connecting DisplayPort - enabled computers to HDMI monitors. It's not suitable for monitors with DisplayPort input, as it is a one - way adapter.
Can a DP to HDMI adapter be used with a docking station/KVM?
Can't be used with docking stations or KVM switches. Only very few on the market support DP++ mode, so data transmission isn't possible.
