Most newer motherboards have TPM already built in so you wouldn't need this module.  I bought it because  1) The much older motherboard did not have TPM functionality enabled, and 2) because the manual that came with the board stated that I had a slot for it, but I would have to purchase the module separately.  Note that I did have functionality after purchasing and installing the module.   First thing I would do is check the motherboard manual (the complete one, not the "Quick Start" one, which should be downloadable from the MSI site.
