A new 3.5-inch adapter base (included in the package) is added to eliminate gaps and ensure a secure, flush installation. Also fits true 4" x 4" posts

Yes. The upgraded version now includes a 3.5" x 3.5" adapter designed for standard nominal 4x4 wood posts, which typically measure about 3.5" x 3.5" in actual size. Simply install it with the adapter.
Will this post top solar lights also fit a standard true 4" x 4" vinyl or PVC post?
Yes. This fence post light also fits standard true 4" x 4" vinyl, PVC. Please remove the 3.5" x 3.5" adapter during installation.
