Yes, this worked perfect on my Gigabyte Gaming OC 9070 XT with the 3 X 8 pin connectors.

is it compatible with a 4090?

No The RTX 4000 series of GPUs only have 1 power connector. Most RTX 3090 and some 3080 have 2 or 3 8 pin connectors. I purchased this streamer version for a RTX 3090.
