The R1 version introduces tray compatibility with selected ICY DOCK MB840TP-B and OEM drive trays. Users can now insert an M.2 NVMe or SATA SSD while it remains installed inside its tray no need to remove the drive before connecting. This feature also supports certain HP, Dell, and SuperMicro trays that follow a standard direct-connect design (without on-board PCB). By connecting internal removable SSD trays directly to an external USB interface, the MB104U-1SMB R1 enables a truly interchangeable workflow between internal NVMe storage systems and portable devices, significantly reducing maintenance and data-transfer time.
