Please note: The MB308A requires the host board to support PCIe bifurcation in mode (x4, x4, x4, x4) to access up to four NVMe SSDs. This adapter itself does not provide bifurcation function. With a PCIe 4.0 x16 interface that delivers a total bandwidth of up to 256Gbps, the MB308A is designed for motherboards that support lane bifurcation (x4, x4, x4, x4). If this feature is enabled, the adapter can connect up to four NVMe SSDs via its two SlimSAS 8i ports. If the motherboard does not support bifurcation, only a single SSD may be detected. In NVMe environments with high data rates, PCIe signals can lose quality across longer traces or external cables. The MB308A's integrated redriver balances and amplifies the signals so that SlimSAS connections maintain full PCIe Gen4 speed, even with qualified long-range cables. This ensures reliable data throughput on demanding workloads such as AI/ML training, data validation, and scientific simulations.
