does this use cam software toc control the lights?

Yes, there is an entire range of colors you can choose. Kind of a pain that you haveto set upan account, just to control your hardware.

After reading the reviews, I really would like to know that this comes with the required cables before ordering. Does it?

I just got the triple pack AER 140 fans and they DO NOT come with the  rgb cables. HOWEVER, the hue+ that you buy in conjunction with these fans come with more than enough cables to support the led strips and any fans you get along side it.
