Question 1

Can this product be installed on my computer?
Sony Vaio
Model # Pcg-81115L

Accepted Answer

Hi, Martha R!

I purchased my Crucial M500 120GB SATA mSATA Internal Solid State Drive CT120M500SSD3 specifically for use in an INTEL NUC PC.

As far as I can tell (via Google, as I don't own one myself), your SONY VAIO PCG-8115L does NOT support mSATA form factor drives, so unless SONY Tech Support tells you otherwise, it WON'T fit. :(

Hope This Helps...

Question 2

does this card go into pci express or regular pci slot?

Accepted Answer

This card install into the mini PCI express slot in your computer, which is not the same as PCI express slot. PCI express card install vertically to your mother board, mPCI-e install horizontally. If your computer has such a slot, make sure it support mSATA. some older mother board with mPCI-e slot are only wired for wifi card, which lack the pins needed to run storage card.

Question 3

What is the difference between this model (CT120M500SSD3) and the CT120M500SSD1? From the picture, it looks like the latter comes in some sort of case, whereas this one does not. Is there any other difference?

Accepted Answer

CT120M500SSD3 is an mSATA drive and uses the PCI Express Mini connector where the CT120M500SSD1 is a 2.5" SATA drive and uses the standard SATA connector. mSATA drives are typically used in netbooks, very thin laptops, mobile devices or where space is really limited like the Intel NUC.

Question 4

Can this drive be used in a SATA 2 system?

Accepted Answer

Negative. M-SATA is a very small form factor and is intended for portable & NUC (tiny desktop) computers built for that specification. SATA 1 through 3 are typically rotational & SSD (solid state drives) supporting that form factor of 2.5"

Question 5

Will this work on an Acer Chromebook C710-2834? Acer says their "information" tells them the 16gb internal mSata is not upgradable.
I personally don't believe them, but don't want to waste money either.

Accepted Answer

Chromebooks usually are not upgradable due to its size.
Most new Ultrabooks and Chromebooks have their memory & ssd all soldered onto the motherboard.
But if youre attempting to upgrade, it may be better to take apart your Acer first to diagnose and inspect to see if the 16GB msata drive is removable.
You would need the restore disks which will need to be run off an external dvd drive but thats another problem itself.

Question 6

Will this work with my Dell inspiron 15r 5520?

Accepted Answer

No, this will not work with your laptop. You need a standard SSD drive like the Crucial MX100 CT128MX100SSD1 2.5" 128GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) .

Question 7

Does this drive come with screws to mount? Thanks!

Accepted Answer

No. It comes in packaging similar to RAM.

Question 8

Will this work in a Dell Mini 9 netbook?

Accepted Answer

Make sure that the slot is a msata no PCI express. You may have to call dell.
