How does this backup or mirror with only 1 drive? What is the specs of the included drive? 64mb cache? 7200rpm? 3.5, 2.5?

I does not mirror and protect data until you buy and add a second 2TB drive. I highly recommend the Diskless Version. Then look at the drive compatibility list on their website and pick the drives that work best for you. I've bought dozens on ReadNAS units and always prefer that method.
