Does the mDP port support 4k @ 60hz?

Yes, either with display port or mini display port, as long as your graphics card can handle the load. Your graphics card should have display port 1.2 for it to work right. I have two of these screens which I run with the nvidia quadro k1200 and a linux operating system and they work great.

Does this monitor have built-in speakers? I can't find anything in the overview or specs that tells me if it does.

No speakers, but there is a (stereo) audio OUT port for speakers, headphones, etc.  (This is actually a requirement imposed by HDMI branding.)

Matte. There is a very slight semi-gloss finish. But it's overall non-reflective.

How do I know if my GPU is fast enough and has enough memory to support this monitor?

I have a gtx 970 4gb and can't game in 4k on it. I get around 25 fps most games.  Everything else is fine though.  I think You need at least a 980 or higher to game in 4k. I'm getting another 970 to sli.

The monitor is amazing though.  Colors are perfect. I do 3d modeling and rendering.

Look up your gpu, it will state if it outputs 4k resolution.

will this work with a MacBook Pro (15-inch, Mid 2009)?

If the MacBook has an HDMI then it should.  I would probably look for a more inexpensive monitor for a MacBook that old.  You will not benefit from the UHD display.

Is there any way to ensure that the version is at least A03? Prior versions exhibit an issue where they intermittently won't recover from sleep without a power cycle.

Does this monitor have a 10 bit panel or is it a 6 bit panel trying to simulate 10 bit? I ask because I see that it can display 1 billion colors but I also don't see what the panel is.

It's IPS 10 bit. But I believe you have to have a Quadro card or AMD to support that.

what kind of IPS panel does it come with?   |||| AH-IPS is a sub type of IPS family. In reality there is no "IPS" panel by itself, it's always one of those.

I'm seriously considering buying this monitor based on all the positive reviews. My big concern is scaling. Does everything on the screen look tiny? I know I can adjust the scaling upwards in Windows, but will this degrade the quality of the picture? I would appreciate any feedback!

If you change the DPI in Windows (not the resolution), then everything looks perfect since it's natively making things bigger instead of rendering it at one size and then scaling it.

One caveat, however: if you have a multi-monitor setup with different DPI monitors, then the Windows 8 auto-scaling makes some apps like Chrome not render well on one of the screens (it looks scaled/blurry).
