Question 1

Are there any known compatibility issues between the ASUS 23.8" VY249HGR-W monitor and popular gaming motherboards or graphics card kits?

Accepted Answer

This ASUS 23.8" VY249HGR-W monitor works well with most popular gaming motherboards and graphics cards without any known compatibility issues. It supports HDMI and VGA inputs and features Adaptive Sync, which helps smooth out gameplay with compatible GPUs, especially from AMD and newer NVIDIA cards.

Just keep in mind that to take full advantage of the 120Hz refresh rate and VRR features, your GPU and motherboard need to support those standards, and sometimes a driver update is needed. If you're using older hardware or connections, you might be limited to 60Hz or standard sync instead.

Question 2

Is the ASUS 23.8" FHD IPS 120Hz VY249HGR-W monitor a good choice for competitive esports gaming with fast response times?

Accepted Answer

This ASUS 24" FHD IPS monitor is a solid choice for competitive esports thanks to its 120Hz refresh rate and 1ms MPRT response time, which help deliver smooth and responsive gameplay. The Adaptive Sync and VRR support minimize screen tearing, providing a cleaner visual experience in fast-paced games.

Keep in mind that while 120Hz is great, some competitive gamers prefer 144Hz or higher for the absolute smoothest motion. Also, the IPS panel offers excellent color and viewing angles, but if you mainly prioritize the fastest possible pixel response, a TN panel might shave off a few extra milliseconds. Overall, this monitor balances speed and image quality well for most esports players.

Question 3

What new features or improvements does the ASUS VY249HGR-W monitor offer over its previous 23.8" FHD IPS models?

Accepted Answer

The ASUS VY249HGR-W monitor improves on previous 23.8" FHD IPS models mainly by offering a 120Hz refresh rate with a 1ms MPRT response time, plus VRR (Adaptive Sync) support for smoother motion—perfect if you're gaming or want less blur during fast action. It also includes TUV-certified flicker-free and low blue light tech for eye comfort, which is a meaningful upgrade if you spend long hours in front of the screen.

One trade-off is that while the higher refresh rate enhances motion clarity, it requires a compatible GPU to fully benefit from VRR and 120Hz output, so make sure your hardware can keep up. Additionally, the antibacterial coating on the bezels is a newer feature that promotes hygiene, but it doesn’t impact performance directly—more of a nice-to-have for shared or workspace environments.

Question 4

Should I get the ASUS VY249HGR-W or ASUS TUF VG249Q3A for gaming?

Accepted Answer

Choose the TUF VG249Q3A if competitive gaming and higher refresh rates are priorities: it supports up to 180Hz and has DisplayPort plus two HDMI ports. The VY249HGR-W supports up to 120Hz and offers an IPS Full HD screen with Adaptive-Sync, Eye Care Plus features, and HDMI and VGA inputs, making it a fit for casual gaming and mixed home-office use.

Question 5

ASUS VY249HGR-W or LG 24MP400-B for work and casual gaming?

Accepted Answer

The ASUS VY249HGR-W is the stronger fit if smoother scrolling or casual gaming matters: it supports 120Hz and Adaptive-Sync. The LG 24MP400-B supports 75Hz, so it can suit basic office use if that refresh rate is sufficient and its price is lower. Both are Full HD IPS monitors; compare current prices and input needs before choosing.

Question 6

ASUS VY249HGR-W or ASUS VY249HE for a 24-inch 1080p monitor?

Accepted Answer

Choose the VY249HGR-W if you want a higher refresh rate for smoother everyday motion and casual gaming: it supports up to 120Hz, compared with 75Hz on the VY249HE. Both are 23.8-inch Full HD IPS monitors with ASUS Eye Care features, so the VY249HE may suit you if its lower refresh rate meets your needs and it costs less.

Question 7

Does this monitor have built-in speakers or a webcam?

Accepted Answer

No. The VY249HGR-W has neither built-in speakers nor a webcam, so plan to use your computer’s audio and camera or connect separate peripherals for meetings and sound.

Question 8

Can I connect a laptop or game console to this monitor?

Accepted Answer

Yes, if the device provides HDMI output; the monitor has an HDMI 1.4 input and includes an HDMI cable. It also has VGA for compatible older devices. A device with a different output may need an adapter. The monitor displays the connected device’s picture; it is not a computer.

Question 9

Can I mount it on a monitor arm or wall mount?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The monitor supports 100 × 100 mm VESA mounting. Check that your arm or wall mount supports this VESA pattern and the monitor’s weight.

Question 10

Is this monitor suitable for home-office work and video meetings?

Accepted Answer

It is suitable for everyday office tasks: it has a 23.8-inch 1080p IPS screen, wide viewing angles, and flicker-free and low-blue-light features. It can display video meetings, but it has no built-in webcam or speakers, so use your computer’s or separate peripherals. The stand offers tilt adjustment only.
