Fruit or vegetable is pierced by a pipe-shaped cylindrical blade on the cutting side of the slicer and gripped by a spiked wheel on the other side, the wheel attached to a crank handle, the wheel and handle sliding forward to wedge the vegetable in place against the blade, which cuts through the food as the crank handle turns.
