This Dell Force10 CBL-QSFP28-100G-DAC-3M compatible 100G QSFP28 passive Direct Attach Copper cable is a factory terminated 3 meter link for 100 Gigabit Ethernet. The QSFP28 connectors are fixed to the Twinax copper at both ends, so there are no transceivers to buy separately and no fiber ends to clean or align.
Passive DAC uses almost no power and adds almost no latency, which makes it the default choice for short 100G connections: leaf and spine switch links, top-of-rack switch to server, and high-speed storage uplinks. At 3 meters this is the longest of the common passive lengths, enough to span rack to rack or run through overhead cable management while still avoiding the cost of optics and fiber. The cable is plug and play, hot swappable, and built to 100 impedance to hold signal integrity at 100Gbps.
Operating range is 0°C to 70°C with storage from -40°C to 85°C, and the cable meets MSA, SFF-8665 and RoHS requirements. Each unit is programmed and tested on Dell Force10 equipment before it ships.
