AJMRTC HDMI to CSI-2 conversion board is built around the TC358743XBG HDMI-to-MIPI CSI-2 bridge IC, specially designed for Raspberry Pi systems that need to capture HDMI video sources through the native CSI camera port. It receives standard HDMI video and audio signals, then converts them into CSI-2 data packets, so the Raspberry Pi identifies the adapter as a regular CSI camera instead of a USB capture device. This avoids USB bandwidth overhead and latency issues common with USB HDMI grabbers.
It supports 1080P@60fps maximum input, and separates audio via I2S interface for synchronized audio and video recording. The onboard EDID memory can be configured to tell the source device which resolutions are supported, which helps stabilize image output and prevent black screen or resolution mismatch. It works with Raspberry Pi 4B, 3B+, Zero, CM4 and other mainstream Pi models after loading the corresponding device tree overlay in Raspberry Pi OS.
It is widely used for PiKVM KVM over IP construction, industrial HDMI signal acquisition, medical image capture, video streaming, SDI/HDMI camera signal input and embedded AI vision systems. The module uses 3.3V power supplied directly from the CSI connector, no extra power adapter required. The exposed I2C control pins allow developers to adjust parameters like resolution, color format and audio mode for secondary development.
